THE GUILD OF MUSIC SUPERVISORS, CANADA
ANNOUNCES BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The GMSC re-brands as a not-for-profit organization
March 1, 2021 (Toronto) – The Guild of Music Supervisors, Canada is proud to announce its first Board of Directors as it officially launches as a not-for-profit organization.
The Board, comprised of 7 music supervisors, also elected 3 Executive Officers:
Michael A. Perlmutter (President), Natasha Duprey (Vice-President), Cody Partridge (Treasurer), Dondrea Erauw, Julietta McGovern, Valerie Biggin and Velma Barkwell.
The purpose of the Guild is threefold: to create awareness amongst production executives of this increasingly significant role in the production of all filmed media projects; to educate emerging Supervisors and create community and; to share knowledge amongst colleagues in Canada and work on industry issues, challenges and changing landscapes together to foster solution for all parties.
“We are excited to take our organization to the next level by becoming an ‘NFP’ which will help us access incredible Canadian funding opportunities. We will continue our work in co-operation with many other guilds, associations and our music + filmed media industry partners to deliver a wide range of social + educational events… as well as a return to the Canadian Sync Awards!” says president Perlmutter, whose career as a music supervisor spans 20+ years.
He continues: “We are a small group of dedicated and passionate music + media lovers. Our ever-changing industry precipitated this idea. We want to ensure our clients receive the best creative and administrative services and we are excited about programs we will develop for emerging supervisors and for the entire ‘filmed media’ industry”.
Vice-president Duprey adds: “In November, 2020 the GMSC launched the inaugural ‘Sound + Vision Virtual Sync Conference’. With a captive audience of musicians and industry personnel working from their respective homes in their respective comfy pants, we hosted a week of panels, workshops, keynotes and musical performances. Over 3000 people tuned in as 40 panelists explored every aspect of the music supervision world. We are thrilled with the feedback we received and aim to make it a yearly event”.
