Applications Open for the 2025 Huey Award

The Guild of Music Supervisors, Canada is thrilled to announce that submissions for the 2025 Huey Award, presented during the Canadian Sync Awards at Departure, are now open!
Submissions are open until April 18th at 11:59pm EST.

This Award has been created to honour the legacy of the late David Hayman and is presented to an aspiring music supervisor who has a passion for the craft. The recipient must be a Canadian resident who shows initiative and interest in pursuing music supervision as a career but has not yet gained experience in the field.

The Award will grant the recipient opportunities to speak with established Canadian music supervisors to learn the basics of the job and, in addition, have opportunities to speak with professionals within the sync community (labels, publishers, sync agents) to build connections and potential internship/job opportunities, and will also include a $1,500.00 CDN honourarium upon completion of the above, generously sponsored by Greater Goods Co.

Applicants can be nominated by a mentor, professor, industry professional, or be self-nominated.

Last year's Huey winner Alexandra Rimmington has recently accepted a position as Music Coordinator at Rogers Sports & Media, Sportsnet as a result of the connections she made as the recipient of the Huey. "Winning The Huey award in 2024 has been an incredible jumpstart to my career in music supervision, opening doors to a phenomenal community of professionals and making me feel truly welcomed. The invaluable conversations and connections this recognition has given me have not only deepened my understanding of successful music supervision but have also led to exciting new work that is filled with possibilities," Alexandra says.
